Beaune
Hotel des Remparts provided us with our most interesting room. The gate was unlocked so that we could come and go. We were prepared for the 3 flights of stairs. The room was big and comfy & so was the bathroom.

The "Watch Your Head!" sign at the top of the stairs to our attic room.
Dwayne, Wilma, Bob, Denise, Del, Marty and Martha having lunch. Notice the wine on the table. |
Many of the people in the hotels were curious about our French names and did not realize how much French heritage there was in Louisiana. They always smiled when I explained that many people there still speak French. This young man at Hotel des Remparts in Beaune is named Arnaud which is my maiden name. He offered to share his name tag with me! |
Hotel Dieu is the main attraction in Beaune. Originally a hospital for the poor, it was built by a wealthy patron who was trying to make sure he got into heaven. The colored tile roof makes it instantly recognizable.
