Walking the Vineyards and Tasting Wines of Alsace
Jean Claude was the local guide who took us walking through the vineyards and gave us a class on how the local grapes are grown. He grew up here and explained how and why the vineyards are controlled to keep the quality of the wine consistent and why the vines on the steepest hillsides produce the best grapes. Jean Claude is an excellent guide and we are grateful to Patrick for introducing us!
Merci, Jean-Claude, pour une visite merveilleuse des vignobles! (Thank you, Jean-Claude, for a wonderful tour of the vineyard!)

From the vineyards with Jean Claude we walked into Eguisheim to the winery of Paul & Philippe Zinck.
It is a small winery that Paul started and his son Philippe is taking over. Philippe gave us a tour and then poured for our tasting. Many of us brought bottles back to the hotel with us to share for the next few nights. We were also given our tasting glasses with the Zink logo as a gift. I use mine at home on most nights.
